Preajba 2015

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Ephesians 6: 12

We cannot thank everyone enough for the prayer support that was given over the three weeks we were in Romania. God must have a great plan for this work, when we considered the innumerable difficult situations that affected everyone both here in Britain as well as those directly and indirectly connected with the work in Romania on the run up to the mission.

There were four main areas we were seeking to see God move in, first to encourage the Christians and churches leaders. To recommence the Saturday Club in Preajba, to see folk meet with Jesus, and to see the transfer of the land in Preajba transferred from Living Waters Christian Association to the Granary Christian Association.

For the first two weeks the weather was very hot reaching up to 38 Deg C one day with thunder storms, but in the third week down to the British climate as low as 18 Deg C in the day and 11 Deg C at night.

During the first week of our arrival there were so many different activities that sought to distract us from planning the diverse activities we had scheduled. When Sami and Marta were able to spend a little time at home with us we began to plan the start of the Saturday Club, an AGM for the Granary Christian Association as well as review the work in Preajba.

On the Saturday after our arrival Sami and Marta organised a working party from No.3 to help on the garden up in Preajba. Marta mowed the grass, while Sami rotivated a fresh area to plant tomatoes and Aubergines. After a little tuition from Sami the girls form No .3 pulled up weeded between the potatoes and then hoed out the weeds between the onion plants. A take away of Pizza’s helped to nourish everyone midday.

During the second week we recommenced the Saturday Club opening with a three day event. On the first day we had five children from the village plus two children belonging to church members. The second day we had seven from the village plus six children belonging to church members. On the third day we had ten from the village plus six children belonging to church members. Some of the children were from the old Saturday Club who are now Teenagers. It is a strong possibility Sami and Marta could commence a Saturday afternoon activity for these young teenagers, depending on the number regularly coming.

Sami and Marta put together a very entertaining, fun program with plenty of teaching content to give the children a clear understanding of the bible stories and the truth of Salvation. Christian friends in Britain had donated a set of Flannel Graph images which proved a great teaching aid.

The third week we gave a little more of our time to visiting Sadu, but we were able to have a little time of recreation, Chris and Elaine visited Ema’s English language class as well as a day out in the mountains with a barbeque. Sami and Marta took us with Tony for a breath taking ride by car up to the peak of the second highest mountain in Romania, Parang.
