David since becoming a Christian had always been touched by the commission in Matthew 28:19- 20 which Jesus gave to his disciples as He was about to be transported back up into Heaven - 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”. David was also inspired by what God says in Jeremiah 6:16 - “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.
David has simply allowed God to inspire him and lead him, being open to fellow Christians who he could see were not only followers of Jesus, but lead by example, with testimonies to follow. This meant that different God led Christians met David over the years of his life, who had a profound influence on his future mission.
Soon after joining the Assemblies of God Pentecostal church in Worcester he was invited to join two fellow members to go on a mission to Poland. This proved a great blessing with souls saved followed by baptism.
Then in 1992 he had the opertunity for a one month mission to Romania which gave him great insight into the culture of the country, visiting a number of churches and preparing him for the mission God had for him in the future.
Then in 1994 with the call of mission burning in his heart he had the opertunity to visit Albania, which had just been freed from communism. Again it was an inspiring and fruitful time. On leaving Albania a church had been establish with the small number of folk meeting the Lord.
It was on meeting his wife Christina he discovered she likewise was part of a prayer group supporting a young Romanian student, who later were to be married with her husband soon to qualify as a Baptist minister. The support continued and in 2003 were able together begin an active role as missionaries to Romania.
