The book of protection, repentance and restoration
Ezra and Nehemiah should be read together, as they both complement one another.
Ezra describes how God helped him to rebuild the temple during the latter part of Israel's exile in Babylon. It was important for the altar to be built first. We are the temple of God, but to be effective for Him it is important that the Lord, our supreme sacrifice is central in our lives. Nehemiah returned from Babylon to oversee the rebuilding of the walls. Nehemiah encountered all the trials that Christian leaders have in rebuilding the church today.
