Outline to the Book. The book of Psalms has the most chapters in the whole of bible. It was written by one of the great kings of Israel, king David. The Psalms were written from David's heart, portraying in graphic detail many of the circumstances he passed through. He portrays how as a young lad the Lord himself became his good shepherd, while out looking after the flocks. Then as he was anointed king, he bares his heart with all the tribulations he had while Saul constantly tried to pursue him, seeking to take his life. Even when he sadly fell through taking another mans wife, one Psalm portrays how remorseful he was for what he had done, which led to a repentant heart.
But as we read in 1 Samuel 30:6 all his writings sum up the words: But David found strength in the LORD his God. David does not fail to praise and thank the Lord for the way he protected and guided him all his life through, as he reminds us in Psalms 23:4. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. Most important David shows us a great lesson in sharing all our situations in life how ever big or small , both when things are good and bad.
Much of the time David had no one to share with because as a shepherd he was on his own. Even when he was king, he found being at the top is a lonely place to be. But we learn that David shared all with his God who could lead and guide him through thick and thin. How often do we see folk who have and are bottling their problems up inside, resulting in a very lonely and sad lifestyle? Take it to the Lord share your life with him and someone you can confide in, for it will bring freedom and joy, as you will in time be able to share the good that comes out of your sorrows.
Further studies to be added to this sight at a later date.
