Introduction. The preceding first and second books of Kings together with the first and second books of Chronicles in general follow on in chronological order and continue to record the reign of King David, and upon the death of King David record the transfer of power to his son Solomon.
Yet you will find that some of the history written in the last chapter of the second book of Samuel will be repeated again in the second half of the first book of Chronicles. In fact much of what is written in the first book of Kings about Saul and King David, is repeated word for word (KJV) in the second book of Chronicles.
We need to take note where circumstances are repeated in the bible, like the life of Jesus being recorded in varying ways by the four Gospels in the New Testament. There has to be some important messages or lessons for us where ever this occurs.
The first nine chapters of the first book of Chronicles records the genealogies of man, from Adam to Abraham the patriarch of Israel, right up to and including the reign of King Saul.
In chapter 10 the book records again the point where King Saul took his life, and the kingship is given to King David.
We see how powerful David was as a warrior, for whenever any opposing armies of the nations came to do battle with Israel, Israel under the mighty hand of God routed the enemies.
The rest of the book describes how David put in place the plans for building and furnishing the temple, which his son Solomon would build, together with all the temple attendants.
The final chapter tells us that with the death of David, Solomon his son taking the throne.
Further studies to this book will be given at a later date.
